How to Master Your Mind: Part One- Who's Running Your Thoughts?

Your mind is the most powerful tool you have for the creation of good in your life, but if not  used  correctly, can also be the most destructive force in your life. Your mind, more specifically, your thoughts, affect your perception and, therefore, your interpretation of reality. I have heard that the average person thinks around 70,000 thoughts a day. That’s  a lot , especially if they are unproductive, self-abusive, and just a general waste of energy. You can let your thoughts run amok, but why would you? It is  your  mind,  your thoughts; isn’t it time to take your power back? Isn’t it time to take control? Choose to be the person who is actively, consciously thinking your thoughts. Become the master of your mind. When you change your thoughts you will change your feelings as well,  and  you will also eliminated the triggers that set off those feelings. Both of these outcomes provide you with a greater level of peace in your mind. ...

How to measure success. The measure of a successful life isn’t your job title, the size of your house, or the beautiful things you can afford. True success is living the life that is authentic to who you are.

Image
Last year my good friend captured this beautiful candid moment with my then 4-month-old daughter Zoe. When I saw it for the first time, tears began streaming down my face. These weren’t tears of sadness, rather tears of immense joy. This picture captured me arriving at a place of inner peace, calm, and happiness that I had spent most of my life searching for. You see, I had spent too many years living the life I thought was expected of me, rather than the life that was true to me. I had always looked up to my father and wanted to model his success as an entrepreneur. So I got my business degree, and by 25, I had built a million-dollar human resources company. I exhausted myself striving for perfection—the perfect house, perfect family, perfect body. The money came in, and I filled my life with stuff—expensive stuff. But it was never enough. The newness always wore off and I soon needed something better to make me feel good. My penchant for new and better stuff left...

The demands of growth. Growth demands a temporary surrender of security. It may mean giving up of familiar but limiting patterns safe but unrewarding

If we don't change, we don't grow. If we don't grow, we are not really living. Growth demands a temporary surrender of security. It may mean giving up of familiar but limiting patterns safe but unrewarding Work, values no longer believed in, relationships that have lost their meanings (Gail Sheehy).  I had learned that shortcuts don't pay off in the long run. If I was going to have a chance to reach my potential, I was going to have to keep learning growing and improving. Taking a new step, uttering a new word is what most people fear most (Dostovsky). The real fear should be the opposite course. There is nothing worse than living a stagnant life, devoid of change and improvements. "Everyone thinks of changing the world, but no one thinks of changing himself" The iconic thing is that change is inevitable, everybody has to deal with it. On the other hand, growth is optional. You can choose to grow or fight it. But know this, people unwillin...

SELF DEVELOPMENT TIPS. Get a mentor and follow his instructions and respect the relationship. Never beg your mentor for money or disrespect his or her privacy.

___________________________________ 1. Make friends with successful people and occasionally buy them gifts and surprise them with lunch because successful people always give and hardly get, so when you give them, they value the gift a lot . 2. Get a mentor and follow his instructions and respect the relationship. Never beg your mentor for money or disrespect his or her privacy. 3. Make new positive friends as often as possible and ensure you keep the communication line open. Create a network of friends and not just connections. 5. Show kindness to everyone. Some small boys today will be big boys tomorrow. The biggest dog in the neighbourhood was once a puppy. Keep the information/secret to yourself. 6. Always plan ahead and be proactive. He that plans the future works less in the future. 7. Listen to speeches and messages from great teachers, both religious and educational. 8. Attend seminars and trainings on any area you need to improve your...

Here are 9 signs it’s time to change your mindset

. 1. You are constantly focusing on what’s wrong Do you always find yourself fixating on your worries and disappointments, but never thinking about the things that are actually going your way? This is a sure sign that your mindset is contaminated with negativity. There may be a lot of bad things happening right now, but odds are there are at least some aspects of your life that are in good shape. Taking time to be thankful for those things is important, because it helps to keep the bad from completely overwhelming your perspective. If you become blind to the good things, you may lose them, or not use them to your advantage. 2. You mourn your failures but forget to celebrate your victories “The difficulties and struggles of today are but the price we must pay for the accomplishments and victories of tomorrow.” ― William J. H. Boetcker, Motivational Speaker This is closely related to the sign above. Do you find yourself feeling angry and despondent whenever you suffer a loss, but g...

7 mindset that will change your life. The difference between who you are and who you want to be stems from your mindset. Once you start to change your mindset, you will immediately start to change your behavior.

What you think is what you become. Internal dialogue--the ongoing conversation we all have with our mindset--is the driving force behind every success story, and also behind every failure. The difference between who you are and who you want to be stems from your mindset. Once you start to change your mindset, you will immediately  start to change your behavior. Here are seven mindsets that will radically improve your business and your life. 1. Self-trust mindset. To do anything great, you have to be able to trust yourself and believe in your capabilities. Success is not something that just happens but something you create. You have to have the confidence to banish any negative voices in your head. Don't give up on the things you believe in--and most important, don't give up on yourself. 2. Goal-setting mindset. Knowing what you want and willing yourself to reach it are two different things. When you know your goals, they motivate you. Remember, if it doesn...

Path to success: Let nothing and no one distract you in your formative years as you climb this rung of the success

Image
Be consistent and unwavering in your efforts. Let nothing and no one distract you in your formative years as you climb this rung of the success ladder for one false step, one wrong move, will hurtle you downwards and negate all your efforts towards the realization of your ambition. A lot of thought, advice and guidance must have gone into your choice of a career be it medicine, engineering, computers or any related discipline. That was just the first step in concertizing your lifetime, hard work, discipline and, above all, perseverance in achieving your target. And it is no easy task, believe me. Having chosen your goal, you must taken one step at a time. You must, to begin with, possess the grit and the determination to see it through at all costs. This calls for consistency as well as introspection. You must assess your strengths as well as weaknesses; your assets and liabilities: your plus and minus points. What would, in the ultimate analysis, impel you to move closer to your goal...
Always dream and shoot higher than you know you can do. Don't bother just to be better than your contemporaries or predecessors, try to be better than your self.
