It may mean giving up of familiar but limiting patterns safe but unrewarding Work, values no longer believed in, relationships that have lost their meanings (Gail Sheehy).  I had learned that shortcuts don't pay off in the long run. If I was going to have a chance to reach my potential, I was going to have to keep learning growing and improving. Taking a new step, uttering a new word is what most people fear most (Dostovsky). The real fear should be the opposite course. There is nothing worse than living a stagnant life, devoid of change and improvements. "Everyone thinks of changing the world, but no one thinks of changing himself" The iconic thing is that change is inevitable, everybody has to deal with it. On the other hand, growth is optional.
